Background
If you would like to read the interim framework please download the dcouments from the orange box opposite.
The Greensand Trust and Central Bedfordshire Council purchased Rushmere Park in September 2009, creating a joint landholding of 400 acres when combined with the existing Stockgrove Country Park and Oak Wood. The overall vision is to create an attractive and accessible public open space, zoned in a manner that enables a wide range of leisure and countryside activities, whilst protecting and enhancing sensitive natural and historic environment areas and features and making the most of this unique landscape.
Plans for the future
A range of research work and surveys have been carried out over the last year, which has been used to form the basis of an ‘Interim Framework’ document that sets out the vision for the future development of the Estate.
This strategic document went out for consultation with both stakeholder groups/organizations and the wider public earlier this year.
Thank you to everybody, from Government agencies through to individual members of the public, who commented on the Interim Framework, attended roadshows or submitted a questionnaire response. We have now collated this feedback and summarized it in the “Consultation Report”.
It is clear that we have responsibility for an important and much valued site. We are now in the process of finalizing the Framework document, taking on board views, comments and advice. The Framework will be published in September, and will set out the proposals for looking after and enhancing Rushmere over the next 5 years or more, creating somewhere special for all to enjoy.
