Spare time on your hands, enjoy working outdoors, care about the countryside and its wildlife? Then this is for you. Join the ‘Green Gym’, its healthy exercise, meet likeminded people and help put something back into your local countryside. All work is planned and supervised by the Greensand Trust rangers, who provide the tools and protective gear, what’s more its fun and it won’t cost you anything!
The western volunteers meet every Wednesday between 10 am & 3 pm, usually at Stockgrove Country Park, Heath & Reach. The type of work carried out varies, such as; scrub & bracken clearance, tree coppicing, hedge planting, heathland & meadow restoration, river & pond clearance, even bonfire making! In addition to the conservation work, construction tasks like; installing kissing gates, repairing fencing, building dams and footpath way marking are carried out.
