The Landowner Bedford Estates has now begun forestry works at Aspley Woods which will affect holders of the Greensand Pass for cycling or horse riding.  These works will result in the closure of Longslade Lane car park and some cross country cycle routes (Longslade trail) in this area. Horse routes should not be directly affected but in places large forestry vehicles may need to cross these routes which will result in temporary closures.

Works will affect the woods along the side of Longslade Lane (up to Sandy Lane) and up Sandy Lane to Church Road on the right. The start of the Longslade trail will be moved approx 400m further down the Bridleway on the right hand side (marked on map).

The Jump area will not be affected.

Works are expected to be completed by October.

To off-set the shortening of the Longslade trail, Mike Hanson and his team will be opening up the Danesbourgh Trial which can be accessed from Sandy Lane / Longslade Road junction  Church Rd car park, Bow Brickhill and

Rangers will be patrolling rights of way and horse routes throughout the forestry works area to try to repair any damage. Please let us know if you come across any by emailing us: [email protected]

Due to school holidays and Covid-19 travel restrictions, we anticipate the woods will be very busy. It is suggested that horse riders with horse boxes do not attempt to use the limited parking facilities at the woods during August - we are looking into providing extensions for Greensand horse riding pass holders at Aspley Woods to compensate for this.
