Countryside sites owned and managed by environmental charity The Greensand Trust – including Rushmere Country Park - remain open for local visitors to access for exercise while maintaining their distance from others. From Saturday 28th March all car parks will be closed, allowing access for local people on foot or by bike on permissive paths only.

It’s important in these difficult times that people do what they can to boost their physical and mental well being. We are allowed outdoors for exercise once a day either alone or with people we live with – please follow government advice about social distancing  and make sure you maintain 2m distance from anyone you meet.

The Greensand Trust is closely monitoring Government advice on COVID-19 and following the advice of Public Health England. We’re taking all appropriate measures to keep our visitors, staff and volunteers safe and healthy during this time so please see below the latest changes to our operations:

 Steps we have taken:

  • Rushmere Country Park remains OPEN but is accessible on foot or by bike via permissive routes into park only as all car parks, visitor centres, cafes and toilets at both entrances are CLOSED - we advise that visitors bring their own hand sanitiser to wash their hands.
  • While the Herons View visitor centre remains closed, visitors can purchase their Greensand passes for parking, cycling and horse-riding via our website – it may take us a little longer than usual to process these but the email confirmation can be used as proof of purchase for cycling and horse-riding.
  • You can contact us via email: [email protected] and we’ll respond as soon as we can - we cannot monitor the inbox 24/7 so please bear with us.
  • Rushmereparkrun has been cancelled in line with all UK parkrun events.
  • All our learning and education programmes and volunteer activities have been cancelled with immediate effect until the end of April, when we will review the situation.
  • All events at The Working Woodlands Centre and Rushmere Country Park between now and the end of May have been cancelled. Anyone who has purchased tickets will be entitled to a full refund – please bear with us to process these while our team is depleted.
  • No permission will be granted for filming and photography shoots at our sites between now and 30th April.
  • No organised group visits will be permitted.

These are extraordinary circumstances and we ask for understanding while we get through this difficult time.
