Term:                        Permanent subject to 3 months probation

Salary:                      £22,000 - £25,000

Based on annualised hours, so your hours worked may vary each month; however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year.

MAIN DUTIES 

An experienced Chef is required to support our Chef Manager to develop our Tree Tops Café facility at Herons View Visitor Centre, Rushmere Country Park.

To provide a high quality catering experience to visitors in a superb location with views across Heron Valley. The Facility is also essential in raising vital revenue to ensure that the Park is maintained and managed sensitively and for the benefit of both people and wildlife.

The ethos of the facility is Quality, Fresh, and Local. As Chef you will be responsible for ensuring this ethos is maintained and must also have the relevant experience to deliver to the highest standards of food preparation and customer service.

You will be responsible for the day to day running of the kitchen, demonstrating leadership and food preparation proficiency. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, implementation of cost-effective practices for operation and supervision of kitchen staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the day to day running of the kitchen and deputise for the café manager when not available.
  • Collaborate in the work of developing menus and plating plans to ensure a consistent and quality service is delivered.
  • Manage stock and wastage.
  • Help build strong supplier relationships that meet standards and costs, whilst ensuring they adhere to our environmental policies.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly and clean kitchen, using proper food-handling techniques
  • Supervise food preparation processes, ensuring all recipes, food preparation, and presentations meet Café specifications and commitment to Fresh, Quality, and Local standards.
  • Sustain and implement structures to maintain, supply and manage the facility to a high standard and in accordance with all current legislation and regulations. Ensure it is kept clean, safe, tidy, well organized, stocked and staffed.
  • Act as a role model for staff, maintain a high standard of personal presentation throughout the Team and help to ensure appropriate conduct.
  • Assisting the Café manager in the scheduling and development of staff
  • Monitor the day to day staffing levels to ensure over / understaffing situations are remedied as soon as is feasible.
  • Engage and interact with customers and colleagues, in a way that delivers the highest levels of customer service and promotes a warm and friendly atmosphere.
  • Deal with complaints or difficult situations in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Promptly complete all general administration, e.g. cashing up, opening and closing down, ordering, stocktaking, inventories, staff rotas, checking-in and out.
  • Help build strong working relationships with other Greensand Trust staff and teams as we work to secure shared objectives
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to, in line with Legislation and Trust Policies.
