What is the Leighton-Linslade Green Wheel?

The Leighton-Linslade Green Wheel is a long term vision to connect people with the environment and encourage healthy lifestyles for all by linking publicly accessible routes and green spaces around the outside of the town to create an ‘outer rim’ forming a complete circuit.  This is complemented by an ‘inner rim’ creating a circuit within the town, and a series of ‘spokes’ (linear paths and corridors) leading from the town centre through the inner rim to the outer rim (and beyond into the wider surrounding countryside).

What is a Green Wheel ‘Masterplan’?

The Green Wheel Masterplan will bring the Green Wheel concept right up to date and identify the range of issues it will help address to improve everyone’s quality of life and local environment.  It will show where the gaps in the existing network are, and an accompanying Action Plan will be created to detail what needs to happen to deliver it.

It will also provide the Leighton-Linslade Green Wheel with the necessary ‘status’ in the land use planning system, ensuring that every opportunity is taken to build it into plans for the future and funding can be secured to deliver the long-term vision.

The Leighton-Linslade Green Wheel Masterplan Consultation

We want to know what you think about the Leighton-Linslade Green Wheel.  What currently stops you from choosing to walk, cycle or ride in and around the town? How you might use the Green Wheel?  Your thoughts will help shape the Green Wheel.  We’d also like to hear from you if you are interested in being involved in some way.

We are consulting on the draft Masterplan for a period of 8 weeks from the 27th July to 20th September 2019, after which we will take on board the results, update and publish the Masterplan in December 2019.
