Local environmental charity The Greensand Trust in partnership with Greensand Country is delighted to announce that Clophill Preschool has been named as the ultimate winner of the 2020/21 Greensand Champions scheme which recognises young people doing something amazing for the Greensand Country environment.

Children at Clophill Preschool are champions of the environment in all their playing and learning – they refill water bottles, compost waste and collect rainwater to save resources and look out for wildlife on their local walks when they’re not busy growing fruit and vegetables to eat on their allotment.

Imogen Godfrey of Clophill Preschool who sent in the entry said: “We are a setting that values the contribution nature and our local environment make to the wellbeing, mental health and education of our children and we promote the care of the environment in all that we do.”

The Greensand Champions Scheme

The scheme set out to discover what young people in the Greensand Country area are doing to protect our local environment and give them the recognition they deserve as our ‘Greensand Champions’ joining our digital Hall of Fame and receiving a Greensand Champions seed bomb. The ultimate winner will receive a special presentation.

They should be extremely proud of all their efforts to improve Greensand Country through their actions and we hope they will also be delighted to be named the overall winner from such a wonderful shortlist of entries.
