Rushmere Country Park

Friday 16 July 2021 marks the 10th anniversary of Rushmere Country Park. There have been over 1.6 million visitors in the past 5 years and we are very proud of the work our small charity team and volunteers have been able to achieve in this short time.

Some of our achievements over the past 10 years

We have further developed the Visitor centre with improvements to the facilities, kitchen and café.

We have created new jobs and volunteering opportunities and supported local businesses and suppliers.

Achieved the Green Flag Award in 2020

With the hard work of the staff and volunteers of The Greensand Trust we were successfully awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award.

Providing educational services for local children

Provided educational services and facilities for local schools, groups and visitors to learn more about their environment.

Heron Watch 2021

Invested in camera technology to provide an Online Streaming Nest Camera so our visitors can watch the Herons grow in our safe Heronry.

Rushmere Country Park and our Heronry was featured in a 2021 episode of Countryfile

Kings Wood and Rushmere NNR has been extended

An area of land dedicated to the conservation, study and enjoyment of England’s wildlife was extended to become Bedfordshire’s largest National Nature Reserve.

Heathland Restoration

An important part of The Greensand Trust’s work is conserving and enhancing the distinctive landscape, wildlife and history of the Greensand Ridge and wider area. At Rushmere we have been working hard to reintroduce rare and natural habitats for the benefit of flora, fauna and wildlife.

Weddings and Events

We have introduced a varied programme of events and trails and in recent times have provided a stunning venue for Weddings.

Social Media

Our Facebook audience has grown in the past 5 years from 2K followers to over 14.8K, added to this we have 1.5K followers on Twitter and are growing our Instagram following.
