Clophill Lakes Boardwalk Appeal

Shocking acts of arson have left the Clophill Lakes boardwalk in ruins, impacting both visitors and wildlife. We want to thank everyone  who contributed to raise the £100,000 to restore access for all to this treasured reserve.

Boardwalk Devastation at Clophill Lakes

The scenic boardwalk, admired for its breathtaking views and essential role in connecting the lakes, was completely destroyed due to an act of deliberate vandalism. Fires were lit at multiple points, not only damaging the boardwalk but also new interpretation boards and bins that helped educate visitors about the area’s rich wildlife and ecological balance.

The Vital Role of the Boardwalk

The boardwalk was more than just a path; it linked communities with nature, making it accessible for everyone, including those with limited mobility. Its loss has deeply impacted conservation efforts, environmental education, and visitor experience at the reserve. Rebuilding it was vital to restoring the connection people have with nature in this beautiful setting.

We were devastated to see the boardwalk completely destroyed by a mindless deliberate act of destruction in August. Since opening in April 2025, we have been so grateful for the care taken by visitors to help us protect this wonderful site. We have been lifted by the support of so many, whose generosity have enabled us to rebuild the boardwalk and restore access for all, in time for the first anniversary of the site.
