The Greensand Trust acquires Shire Oak Heath but needs help for restoration and safer cycle access

The Greensand Trust is delighted to announce it has been successful in its bid to purchase Shire Oak Heath, a 17 acre site neighbouring Rushmere Country Park which the Trust runs on a not-for-profit basis. This means that restoration works can now begin. However, the Trust remains £15K short of the £50K it needs to complete its vision of vibrant heathland habitats and further funding is needed to create a safer cycle access into the park via Thrift Road.Read more

Rushmere Valley Slide closed while decision made on its future

The Valley Slide at Rushmere Country Park is currently closed pending a decision to be made on its future as part of the play offer at the park due to the risks posed by potential public liability claims. This decision has created much media interest and a large response from visitors on the park's Facebook page but we believe this was the most responsible action to take following the outcome of a public liability claim made against The Greensand Trust last month.Read more

Top mountain biker films at Rushmere

Eagle-eyed visitors straying from the main paths in Rushmere Country Park this summer may have spotted some strange earthworks and timber constructions deep in a wooded valley. The Greensand Trust team at Rushmere Country Park was sworn to secrecy about what was going on but now the secret is out - global mountain bike superstar Matt Jones was filming a promotional video in the park for one of his major sponsors Red Bull.Read more
