It comes as the internationally recognised standard for parks and green spaces celebrates its 30th year. Rushmere Country Park is one of a record breaking 2,391 in the UK to achieve the award this year – a fantastic testament to the hard work, passion and dedication of the team who care for this green space, ensuring it is maintained to a high standard for visitors and residents to enjoy. Judges who visited the park commented: Rushmere Country Park is an exemplar Green Flag site. Its scale (over 170 hectares) combined with high visitor numbers, makes the consistently high standard of management particularly noteworthy. The zoned approach to access, which successfully balances visitor pressure with ecological protection, is especially commendable and clearly working in practice. The site visit confirmed that this is a place of real quality, character and value, offering a rich visitor experience while maintaining a strong conservation ethos. Rushmere Country Park not only meets but exceeds the Green Flag Award standard and is highly deserving of continued recognition.
