Stanbridge Meadows

Address - eastern edge of Leighton Buzzard centred at grid reference SP940242.

The reserve is owned by the Greensand Trust and consists of three fields of unimproved neutral grassland, with the southeast field containing an area of more calcareous grassland.

The site has been identified as a County Wildlife Site for its species-rich grassland, which supports a wide range of species including cowslip, agrimony, quaking grass, fairy flax and lady’s bedstraw. Tall hedgerows also surround the site and divide the fields and are important for bird nesting and invertebrates. The grassland is maintained by cattle grazing in late summer and autumn.
