Walk the Ridge: Led Greensand Ridge Walks

As part of the Greensand Country Festival, we are running led walks along the Greensand Ridge Route. The walks will be broken down into 3 manageable sections (no more than 14 miles) and will take place on Saturdays.
‘Outfall Safari’ yields results!

A group of Greensand Trust volunteers have helped identify (and hopefully solve) a pollution issue in the River Ouzel in Leighton Buzzard through their ‘Outfall Safari’ activities.

Environmental charities putting peat on the map

The Greensand Trust and its collaborative initiative the Greensand Country Landscape Partnership, working with The Wildlife Trust Beds, Cambs & Northants has launched a new project “Putting Peat on the Map” - focussing on improving our understanding of peat along the River Flit in Bedfordshire.

We are so incredibly proud to see our co-founder, patron and former chairman honoured by Her Majesty for Services to Wildlife and Conservation in Bedfordshire in the Queen's Birthday Honours 2021. Congratulations Peter Smith MBE.
Trustee - Sonnie Wing

Sonnie Wing was appointed as a Trustee in 2015. Bedfordshire ‘born and bred’ having grown up in the village of Tebworth he attended local schools and currently lives in Westoning.
Trustee - Sally Hunt

Sally Hunt was appointed in 2007. A resident of Hockliffe, Watergate Farm is a traditional family farm which has been farmed by four generations of the Hunt family since 1924.
Chairman - Steven Smith

Steven Smith, a founding member of The Greensand Trust, became our Chairman in May 2021 following his 22 years of service as a Trustee.

Tree Tops Cafe OPEN 8am-5pm

Our Tree Tops Restaurant and Deck open daily for breakfast, lunches, drinks and snacks - delicious food with an amazing view! You can also hire it for your own event!
Cycling

Cyclists are welcome at Rushmere Country Park and Woburn Woods. Free access via public rights of way and our new Family Trail at Rushmere, plus specialist cross country and downhill trails for use with the purchase of a Greensand Cycling Pass.
Parking at Rushmere

Pay for parking before you leave by app (use our free WiFi) at our two payment machines or in the visitor centre when open.
Dog walking

Responsible dog owners are welcome at Rushmere Country Park within designated areas - both on and off the lead. For everyone's safety dog walkers must abide by our on/off lead rules and pick up after their dog.

Ampthill Park

Ampthill Park has a bit of everything - tremendous views from The Greensand Ridge, a fascinating heritage from Henry VIII to Capability Brown, and a diverse collection of flora and fauna. Working closely with Ampthill Town Council, The Greensand Trust helps manage Ampthill Park and other sites around Ampthill.
