Rushmere Country Park

**COVID-19 Update: Use of BBQs at Rushmere Country Park is currently not permitted.**

This advice applies to our normal operations only:

During the summer months many of our visitors ask us about the use of BBQs in the park so we thought it best to list a few guidelines on doing this safely and with consideration of other park users.

  • BBQs are only allowed in The Meadow beside the car park
  • Before starting your barbecue, make sure it's on a stand and not placed directly on the grass or any park furniture.
  • We ask you to use ‘kettle’ type BBQs rather than disposable foil ones as these help reduce smoke levels and waste.
  • Take some water (or fetch water using a bottle or container from outside the Visitor Centre near the toilets) to put out the BBQ once it’s finished.
  • Make sure your BBQ is cool before taking it home for disposal (as a charity we prefer to spend our funds on conservation of the park rather than waste management).
  • Please do not place ashes or food debris in the bins.
  • Keep children and pets supervised around BBQs at all times.

Similarly we welcome picnics in The Meadow but again urge you to please take all your rubbish home with you.

Many thanks for your cooperation.
