Clophill Lakes

The Greensand Trust wishes to establish a Nature Reserve, enabling otters, sand martins and colourful dragonflies in the wetlands, to skylarks and wildflowers in the grassland areas.  We will also provide public access in a sensitive and sustainable manner which conserves and enhances these emerging habitats, whilst enabling visitors to share in the benefits this very special environment provides.

Please help us achieve this by supporting our Clophill Lakes Appeal

Clophill Lakes establishment making good progress!

We’re delighted to announce that significant progress has been made since August in the establishment works at Clophill Lakes, with the contractor making remarkable headway thanks to favourable weather conditions.

·     Much work has been carried out on establishing paths and bridges and improving access around the lakes.

·       The existing quarry bridge has undergone a comprehensive refurbishment which will extend the bridge's lifespan for decades to come.

·       The main pedestrian bridge is scheduled for installation this November.

·       All groundworks associated with the creation of new viewpoints and hide bases have been completed, with corresponding landscaping efforts adding to the area's natural appeal.

·       The new café and ranger's office area has seen substantial progress with the construction of the car park now underway.

We still have a large amount of work to be done throughout the rest of the year and into early 2024. Future works will include: installing bridges, finishing paths, laying services and infrastructure, as well as creating bird hides, fencing and conservation work.

We aim to have the site available for public access in 2024 but it’s too early to give a date at this point - we will announce a date when we are further along and are confident of meeting it.
