About our volunteers **The Practical and Conservation volunteer group at Rushmere is currently at maximum numbers so we are unable to take on any new volunteers for this. We do however have opportunities at the eastern end of our operations** Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do and it's our aim to make sure anyone who gives their time to us feels valued, understood and proud to be part of The Greensand Trust. Our teams of volunteers love to keep active, meet new friends and do their bit to keep their local greenspace a special place. Here we hear from some of our our volunteers telling us why they find volunteering so worthwhile and what’s involved. See what opportunities might be right for you and apply now (you’ll be able to state your preferred opportunity) and we’ll be in touch. We're sure you won't regret it! It is pleasurable for me to give something back in improving our local and unique rural landscape. The tasks are varied and it is rewarding to see the impact that we have made to Rushmere in a short space of time. Volunteering helps keep me both physically and mentally fit and there is a bonus of socially interacting with other like-minded people. Keith Whitehead Through volunteering with The Greensand Trust I've found a new interest and met such a lot of lovely people. There's so much you can get involved with if you want to. It's a great way of learning about conservation and particularly local issues. Liz Hooper I love it when we return to a site a year later to see the difference our work has made on the landscape. Parts of Rushmere have been transformed by the volunteers into some beautiful patches of heathland and woodland. It makes all the hard work feel worthwhile. What we provide for each volunteer Every voluntary role we offer has a role description, describing the tasks we wish our volunteers to perform, how often we hope they will volunteer and where they will be based. All our volunteers have a designated member of staff or fully-trained volunteer to guide and advise them. A Volunteer Coordinator is also available to give advice, information and support and to deal with any complaints. We provide tools and uniform appropriate to the task undertaken As a way of expressing our thanks to all our volunteers we hold an annual BBQ for them each year - this is an opportunity to meet other volunteers and Trust staff.
