Clophill Lakes

The Greensand Trust is currently requesting a minor amendment to the planning condition. The change will still require Cainhoe SAM Management Plan to be approved prior to the reserve opening to the public, but will allow the associated works to enable that access to commence.

Much work has been carried out on the Clophill Lakes site since we acquired it in February - we're working hard to get it opened next year - here's an Update on our progress so far.

• Our target is to open for Public Access in 2023.
• We are awaiting Central Bedfordshire Council’s approval to begin establishment works in line with the approved Nature Reserve Masterplan and Management Plan.
• We have more tree planting events coming this autumn.
• Come and visit our stand at the Clophill Pumpkin Festival on 29th October.
• Site checks, surveying and monitoring work is ongoing and will continue before and after public access is enabled to ensure any impacts are minimised and/or mitigated and inform any future activities.
• We’d like to thank everyone for their continued patience, respecting No Access on site and keeping to the Public Rights of Way. If anyone has any concerns about unauthorised activity on site, please Arena Security on (Freephone) 0800 389 1494.

We need your help now!

We have launched an appeal to support our conservation work and the supporting facilities that the site will need to ensure its future sustainability and protection.
Greensand Trust Patron and former Chairman Peter Smith MBE has offered to match any donations made to the Clophill Lakes Appeal before the end of December via The Peter Smith Charitable Trust.
